When The Scots College embarked on a mission to enhance its residential facilities at the Glengarry Campus, they needed more than just extra space, they required a solution that delivered comfort, function, and design harmony with the natural landscape.
Australian Temporary Structures, in partnership with Paynters, delivered a state-of-the-art modular dormitory building that ticked every box.

A Flexible Structure Built for Purpose
Measuring 10.00m x 45.00m x 4.20m, the custom-built dormitory offers a full-service accommodation solution tailored to the unique needs of staff and students in residence. Built using ATS’s premium modular system, the structure was delivered and installed with speed, precision, and minimal site disruption.
Key Features:
Staff Accommodation: Dedicated spaces for staff ensure support teams are comfortably housed on-site.
Kitchen and Laundry Pods: Self-contained pods include two laundries and integrated kitchen facilities for extended stays.
Toilet & Shower Pods: The building includes 9 toilet and shower pods, ensuring adequate and private amenities for all users.
Open-Air Verandas: Designed to maximise outdoor enjoyment and connection to the environment, the verandas offer ideal zones for study and relaxation.
Thermo Roof with Pumps: Ensures effective insulation and climate control across changing seasons.
Insulated Sandwich Panel Walls: Deliver thermal performance and long-term durability.
Insulated Glass Panels: Four 5m bays of glass walling flood the space with natural light while maintaining energy efficiency.
Double Sliding Doors with Panic Handles: Three sets of secure glass doors enhance access and safety compliance.
Internal Fit out: Industrial flooring with carpet tiles and two internal gable-end walls complete the interior layout.
Storage Rooms: Two built-in storage rooms support campus operational needs.

Designed for Durability, Delivered with Minimal Impact
One of the defining principles behind this project was to create a high-performance facility with minimal impact on the existing campus environment. The building’s low-profile, aluminium panelled façade integrates seamlessly with the Glengarry Campus surrounds, complementing the school’s architectural tone without overpowering it.
The off-site fabrication method used by ATS significantly reduced on-site construction time and disruption to campus operations, an essential consideration in an active educational environment.
A Collaborative Vision for The Scots College
Led by Paynters, Major & Complex Projects, the collaboration ensured the project was managed with meticulous attention to detail. ATS’s turnkey delivery, from design and engineering through to installation, allowed all stakeholders to remain aligned and focused on delivering a structure that not only met expectations but exceeded them.

A Model for Modular Campus Living
The Scots College Dormitory Project is a standout example of how modular construction can be leveraged for long-term educational infrastructure. With robust performance, aesthetic appeal, and built-in sustainability, it serves as a model for other institutions seeking to expand their campuses quickly without compromising quality.
